From October 22 to October 25, Danyang High School students participated in an overseas advanced cultural experience program in the Osaka region of Japan. This program was not merely an excursion outside the classroom but a valuable opportunity for students to expand the boundaries of their learning and grow as global citizens. From planning and preparation to execution and reflection after the program concluded, it featured meticulous organization and execution, thanks to the dedicated efforts of homeroom teachers and accompanying staff. Their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and educational enrichment of students left a profound impression on both students and parents, fostering trust and inspiration throughout the journey.

During the program, students applied the knowledge they had gained in school to real-world settings, deepening and b  roadening their learning in the process. Exploring iconic landmarks like Osaka Castle and Harukas 300 Observatory, they experienced Japanese history and culture firsthand, discovering how theoretical knowledge can be meaningfully connected to real-life experiences. This enriched their understanding and provided a significant boost to their motivation for learning.

Through a variety of activities that transcended physical, cultural, and linguistic boundaries, students developed a global perspective and cultivated cultural sensitivity. The exchange program with Sano High School allowed them to compare educational systems and cultures, engaging in discussions that emphasized the importance of mutual respect and understanding. Additionally, at the UNESCO Korea-Japan Student Forum, they discussed global issues with peers from diverse backgrounds, fostering international awareness and collaborative problem-solving skills. Such experiences enabled students to see the world through a broader lens, far beyond the context of a single nation.

In the process, students could significantly broaden their perspectives and experiences personally, academically, and socially. Comparative studies of Korea and Japan related to their academic majors, which were conducted as a pre-activity, helped them delve deeper into their areas of interest. Meanwhile, the B&S Program with Japanese university students showcased their ability to lead self-directed explorations and work collaboratively. In the process, they planned and executed their own itineraries. These experiences transcended the general notion of a simple field trip, encouraging introspection and helping students internalize their learning.

The follow-up activities of the achievement-sharing session and the process of creating a booklet after the experiential learning program provided students with an opportunity to reflect on their experiences, share them with their peers, and further deepen their learning. Through this series of activities, students were able to reflect on what they had learned and how they had grown, providing them with an opportunity to clearly set their future learning goals and career paths.

This cultural experience learning program was more than an educational activity; it left a lasting impact on students, offering them positive energy and memorable moments that will serve as a source of strength and encouragement as they face the challenges of their senior year. Danyang High School will continue to provide students with opportunities to explore the broader world, realize their dreams, and grow as individuals. I hope the booklet they published will serve as a meaningful record of their journey, sharing the value and significance of this unique experience.
